Due to an untimely hamstring injury, Matheesha Pathirana, the star bowler of CSK from Sri Lanka, has announced that he will not be participating anymore in the 2024 Indian Premier League. The news was shared by the bowler on his official Instagram account.
Deepak Chahar will also probably miss the remainder of the season for CSK, which is undoubtedly a big blow to them. With the T20 World Cup quickly approaching, Pathirana went to Sri Lanka on Sunday, May 5, to recuperate from a hamstring injury. Once that news came up, it was almost certain that he would not return to India as hamstring injuries generally take time to heal.
In an emotional Instagram post, Pathirana wrote, "Hard goodbye with my only wish to see the 2024 IPL champion trophy in CSK’s room soon! Grateful to the CSK team for all the blessings and love from Chennai."
Despite playing in just six IPL 2024 games, Pathirana had a huge impact with 13 wickets, and CSK will undoubtedly miss his exceptional death-bowling abilities.
The fact that he is a key player for Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup, which is set to take place in the USA and the Caribbean, is another reason for concern for his injury. With less than a month until the main event, it will be intriguing to watch how he recovers.
