IPL 2022, CSK vs KKR preview: Clash of two new captains on the cards

India's biggest cricket carnival is set to begin on Saturday with Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders clash at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. For the first time in IPL history, MS Dhoni will not come out at the toss for CSK given he handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja.

Moreover, Chennai will miss the services of hard-hitting batter Moeen Ali as he failed to get a visa on time. New Zealand's Devon Conway is likely to find a place in CSK Playing XI in Moeen's absence.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) will look to avenge their IPL 2021's final loss and start the season with a bang under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. However, they will miss the services of Pat Cummins and Aaron Finch, who are on international duty.

Going by the stats of previous seasons, CSK have an upper hand going into IPL 2022 opener. In 27 matches played so far, Chennai won 17 matches while Kolkata managed to win only 8. CSK defeated KKR in all three matches played during IPL 2021.
