IPL 2022: Jos Buttler shatters THIS record, and wins the Orange Cap; Chahal grabs the Purple Cap

Rajasthan Royals' opener Jos Buttler broke a six-year-old record when he went past David Warner's 848 runs, which he scored in IPL 2016. With 863 runs in 17 matches, Jos Buttler won the Orange Cap and also set a new standard for most runs by an overseas batter in IPL. Yuzvendra Chahal grabbed the purple cap with 27 wickets in 17 matches.

Buttler was in tremendous form in IPL 2022 and scored his runs at an average of 58.86 and a strike rate of 151.47. He slammed 4 centuries and as many fifties in the tournament. Lucknow Super Giants' captain KL Rahul was second on the list of highest run-getter with 616 runs in 15 matches. Quinton de Kock was third in the list with 508 runs in 15 matches, including one century and 3 fifties. Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya (487 runs) was at the 4th spot on the list of highest run-getters followed by his teammate Shubman Gill (483 runs) at the 5th spot.

KL Rahul: 616 runs in 15 matches

Quinton de Kock: 508 runs in 15 matches

Hardik Pandya: 487 runs in 15 matches

Yuzvendra Chahal topped the list of highest wicket-takers with 27 wickets in 17 matches. Wanindu Hasaranga, who finished second on the list, gave Chahal a tough competition and was on the top of the list ahead of the final. But Chahal picked 1 wicket in the final and won the purple cap. Punjab Kings' Kagiso Rabada (23 wickets) was third on the list followed by Umran Malik and Kuldeep Yadav.
