Sunrisers lost Abhishek Sharma early but Kane Williamson kept one end intact as Rahul Tripathi continued to find boundaries. After Williamson's dismissal, Aiden Markram partnered Tripathi in the middle and the duo stitched a match-winning 94-run stand for the third wicket. Kolkata's bowlers were merely spectators as Tripathi found boundaries with ease and scored 71 runs off 37 balls before getting out. Meanwhile, Markram remained unbeaten on 68 runs along with Nicholas Pooran as Hyderabad defeated Kolkata by 7 wickets.

Earlier, Hyderabad pacers made full use of seaming conditions at Brabourne Stadium and reduced Kolkata to 31-3. Shreyas Iyer then steered KKR's innings along with Nitish Rana. But Shreyas' 28-run knock was cut short by the extreme pace of Umran Malik.

Meanwhile, Rana went on to score his first fifty after 19 IPL innings. On a pitch that was conducive for seamers, Russell's late flourish powered Kolkata to 175-8. Natarajan emerged as the most successful bowler for SRH as the left-arm pacer took three wickets.
