Wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan emerged as the most expensive player on Day 1 of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction after Mumbai Indians (MI) bought him for a staggering Rs 15.25 crore.

There was a fierce bidding war between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians but the latter looked committed to buying their former player and finally got him.

Ishan Kishan made his IPL debut in 2016 while playing for Gujarat Lions and then moved to Mumbai after the end of the Lions' two-year contract.
