5-time Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians will kickstart their 2022 campaign against Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals in the first match of the doubleheader on March 27th at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Although both teams have tried to retain their core, they also had to let go of some of their important players in the 2022 IPL mega auctions. While Mumbai will miss the services of Quinton de Kock, Trent Boult, Delhi's team will not feature Shikhar Dhawan, Avesh Khan, and Kagiso Rabada in this year's campaign.

Mumbai Indians who could not qualify for the playoffs last season will look to begin the season with a bang in a bid to secure their 6th title. A major blow for Mumbai Indians is the absence of Suryakumar Yadav who will miss the first match due to his thumb injury. MI also bought Jofra Archer, but the ace bowler will not play this season.

On the other hand, Delhi, though have not earned an IPL title yet, they have been in a prolific form in the last 3 seasons. They have roped in David Warner who is yet to join the squad. South African pacer Anrich Nortje will remain unavailable for the initial matches.

HEAD TO HEAD:

Having won 16 out of 30 matches, Mumbai has an upper hand in head-to-head stats. However, in their 2 meetings last year, Delhi dominated the game.

Playing XI:

Delhi:

Prithvi Shaw, Tim Seifert, KS Bharat, Rovman Powell, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Sarfaraz Khan, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mustafizur Rahman, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi.
