Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul became the first Indian batter to score a century in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). He is also the first batter in IPL history to score a century in his 100th match. Rahul smashed his first century of the ongoing season against Mumbai Indians on Saturday at Brabourne. This was Rahul's second century against Mumbai in IPL.

Rahul's third ton in the Indian Premier League came off 56 deliveries and the LSG captain remained unbeaten on 103. He smashed nine fours and five sixes in his 60-ball innings.
Rahul is also only the second batter in IPL history to score multiple centuries as a captain. His first century as a captain came when he was leading the then Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings) in 2019. Virat Kohli has scored the most five IPL centuries as a captain.
KL Rahul is also the fourth player in IPL history to score two centuries against one opponent. Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and David Warner were the other three players who scored two hundreds against one opponent.
