Chennai Super Kings are in big trouble after reports have emerged that their star bowler Deepak Chahar has had a back injury while recovering from a quadriceps injury while undergoing rehab at the NCA. Several reports now suggest that Chahar who recently started to bowl again in the nets in Bengaluru during the rehab had a further back injury which has now cast doubts over his participation in the ongoing IPL 2022 season.

ESPNCricinfo reports that Chahar's new injury might just rule him out of the season while the CSK management waits for a formal report from the NCA. Chahar is extremely crucial for CSK's plans this season as the fast bowling all-rounder was bought by the Chennai based franchise for Rs 14 crore in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Right before the IPL, Chahar had a quadriceps injury during the West Indies T20 series in February this year and was expected to play the IPL in May. After losing all 4 matches played so far in IPL 2022, the Ravindra Jadeja led Chennai Super Kings are at the bottom of the points table and are desperate for reinforcements.
