Virat Kohli showed glimpses of his old past during his 73-run knock as Royal Challengers Bangalore came victorious in their must-win game against Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday night. Bangalore kept their playoffs hopes alive with an 8-wicket win over Gujarat.
Chasing a modest 169-run target, Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis provided RCB, a solid 115-run opening stand. Kohli did the bulk of scoring during the opening stand and completed his fifty in 33 balls.

After Faf's dismissal, Glenn Maxwell played the role of finisher and smacked Gujarat all-round the park during his unbeaten 40 runs off 18 balls. Bangalore chased down the target with 8 balls to spare thus, knocking Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings out of the playoffs race.
Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha provided Gujarat yet another brisk start with some clean hitting but his opening partner Shubman Gill fell early. RCB reduced Gujarat to 73-3 in 10 overs but Hardik Pandya scored a well-crafted 62 not out off 47 balls despite not being at his fluent best. Rashid's 19-run cameo propelled Gujarat to 168-5.
