Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has backed skipper Rishabh Pant after their five-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, which cost them a spot in the playoffs.
During the press conference, Ponting said that Pant did a terrific job with the team as a captain and he has no doubt that even in the last year, Pant was the right choice to lead the team.
Notably, Rishabh Pant took over the captaincy from Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2021 after he suffered a shoulder injury. He was retained as DC's captain for the IPL 2022 as well.

Former Australia captain further said that Pant is a young man who is still learning captaincy and got his full backing because he (Ponting) has also gone through such situations when things didn't go the way he wanted.
Rishabh Pant-led Delhi has managed to win just 7 out of 14 matches in the ongoing IPL season and hasn't qualified for the playoffs.
