With Lucknow Super Giants beginning their IPL 2023 season on a high by getting an important win against the Delhi Capitals courtesy of a brilliant innings by debutant Kyle Mayers, the team might have a potential headache for themselves once their star opener Quinton de Kock returns to the fray.
Kyle Mayers' fiery knock of 73 runs had helped Lucknow post a mammoth total of 193 on a tricky surface. His innings included an impressive 7 sixes with 2 fours as well.
However, with Lucknow's star opener de Kock returning to the team after South Africa's ODI series against the Netherlands, it will be interesting to see how will LSG figure out their playing XI going further.
De Kock was Lucknow's 2nd highest run-getter in the previous season with a total of 508 runs at a strike rate of 148.97.
He also scored an unbeaten 140 against KKR which helped LSG qualify for the knockouts.
However, it's a headache for another day. With de Kock yet to return, Mayers will get another go against the Chennai Super Kings on Monday and will be raring to shoot his best shot again after a brilliant start to the IPL 2023.
