The Chennai Super Kings are back in the race to IPL 2024 playoffs as they returned to winning ways by beating the Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets in first game of a super Sunday.
Sanju Samson's decision to bat first backfired as Rajasthan was restricted to 141/5 with Riyan Parag top scoring with 47. Simarjeet Singh ran through RR's top order with 3 wickets.
It though was a decent score on a tricky track but Ruturaj Gaikwad dropped anchor in reply. Despite losing partners at the other end, the CSK skipper powered his side to victory with an unbeaten 42. Cameos by other batters helped the hosts win with 10 balls to spare.
While CSK won their 2nd match in 3 outings, Rajasthan were handed a hat-trick of defeats and are still not through to the playoffs.
