Tushar Deshpande was the star of the night as the Chennai Super Kings returned to winning ways by thrashing the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 78 runs in the second game of a super Sunday in IPL 2024.
Having lost the toss, CSK had to once again bat first at the Chepauk and just like the previous game against LSG, they once again scored in access of 200.
Ruturaj Gaikwad once again came good with 98. He was coming off a hundred at the same ground.
But this time CSK bowlers were determined to defend the target. Chasing 213, SRH threw away wickets upfront and lost half their side with just 85 runs on the board. Tushar Deshpande was the chief destroyer, who scalped top 3 SRH batters. He eventually ended with 4 wickets, his best spell in IPL history.
Heinrich Klaasen too couldn't rescue SRH as they all out for 134 in reply. It was the first time the Sunrisers were bowled out this season.
Interestingly, it was the 150th IPL win for MS Dhoni and the 50th win for CSK at the Chepauk.
While CSK won after 2 consecutive losses, Hyderabad's campaign is suddenly sliding down with 2 consecutive losses.
