The Delhi Capitals gave their IPL 2024 playoff hopes a huge boost as they beat the Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs on Tuesday to register their 3rd win in 4 outings. The Royals have now lost 2 in a row.
Sanju Samson's decision to put Delhi into bat backfired as DC posted a mammoth 221/8.
Jake Fraser-McGurk once again lit up the Arun Jaitley Stadium with a fifty off just 19 balls. Abhishek Porel top-scored with 65 but it was Tristan Stubbs' fiery 41 that helped Delhi reach that total.
Chasing which, Rajasthan lost Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler early but Samson dropped anchor. He went on to smash a 46-ball-86 before being out in a controversial manner.
No other batter made a substantial score as the Royals could manage 201/8 in reply. Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar chipped in with 2 wickets each.
The difference were the last 3 overs. While DC scored 53 off their last 18 balls, RR managed only 20 runs.
