Royal Challengers Bengaluru's dream to end their IPL title drought came crashing down as the Rajasthan Royals beat them by 4 wickets in the IPL 2024 Eliminator in Ahmedabad. While RCB's dream run ended after winning 6 consecutive games, RR will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday.
Things didn't start off well for RCB as Faf du Plessis lost the toss and they were asked to bat first. Bengaluru tried to keep up with their aggressive approach but it didn't work out this time around.
Faf and Virat Kohli both couldn't score big and wickets at regular intervals reduced RCB to 122/5. Mahipal Lomror and Rajat Patidar though helped their side finish at 172/8.
Chasing which RR openers raced to 80/1 in 9 overs before Bengaluru fought back to make the game interesting. RR was reduced to 160/6 despite Riyan Parag's gritty 36.
The equation boiled down to 13 required off the last 2 overs but Rovman Powell kept his cool and took Rajasthan over the finish line with an over to spare.
While the Royals ended their 4-match losing run, RCB's wait for an IPL title got longer.
