The Kolkata Knight Riders broke little sweat on Monday and beat the Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets to deny them a hat-trick of victories in IPL 2024.
Rishabh Pant's decision to bat first after winning the toss was a questionable one and it backfired when DC managed to put just 153/9. Number 9 batter Kuldeep Yadav was their top-scorer with an unbeaten 35.
The run chase proved to be a cakewalk for the Knight Riders as their openers once again took them off to a flying start with a 70-run stand in the powerplay itself.
Sunil Narine fell soon after but an in-form Phil Salt smashed 33-ball-68 before being dismissed by Axar Patel. KKR pushed Rinku Singh up the order but he was also out for 11.
However, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer never let Delhi claw their way back into the contest and finished off the game with an unbeaten 57-run partnership.
KKR won with 21 balls to spare and didn't let DC complete a hat-trick of wins.
