The upcoming IPL clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), scheduled for April 17 at Eden Gardens, is shrouded in uncertainty. As per Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is deliberating on whether to relocate or reschedule the match due to coinciding events that could impact the feasibility of hosting the game on the planned date.
At the heart of the concern is the Rama Navami festival, a significant celebration across India, which raises doubts about the availability of adequate security measures for the match. This situation is further complicated by the concurrent general elections, adding layers of logistical challenges to the event's execution.
According to the report, the BCCI, in consultation with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and local law enforcement, is actively evaluating the circumstances. Although a definitive decision has yet to be announced, stakeholders, including the involved franchises and the broadcasting partners, have been alerted to the possibility of a scheduling alteration.
