Kuldeep Yadav marked his return from injury with a spectacular bowling performance for the Delhi Capitals but despite his efforts, Ayush Badoni's exceptional half-century ensured the Lucknow Super Giants reached a competitive total of 167 after being 94/7 at one stage of the innings.

The match began with LSG choosing to bat first and getting off to a promising start. However, the early dismissals of Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Paddikal brought LSG to a precarious position at 41/2. It seemed an opportune moment for KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis to build a significant partnership. But their hopes were dashed when Kuldeep Yadav, returning to the lineup after missing three games, was introduced into the attack.

Kuldeep, a left-arm wrist spinner, quickly made a substantial impact by dismissing Marcus Stoinis and then sending Nicholas Pooran back to the pavilion for a golden duck with a delivery that breached his defenses and bowled him. In his following over, Kuldeep continued his dominance by claiming the wicket of LSG captain KL Rahul, significantly setting back LSG's innings. His performance, which included figures of 3/20 without conceding a boundary, was a timely reminder of his skills ahead of the T20 World Cup selections, emphasizing his case for inclusion in the team headed to the West Indies and the USA.

Following Rahul’s dismissal, LSG’s woes intensified as both Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya fell quickly, leaving the team struggling at 94/7. At this juncture, Delhi appeared to have a firm grip on the match. However, Ayush Badoni had other plans. The young batter stepped up under pressure, crafting a masterful fifty that shifted the momentum. His resilience was on full display as he forged a crucial unbeaten 74-run partnership with Arshad Khan, propelling LSG past the formidable 160-run threshold—a score from which LSG has never lost when batting first.

Badoni’s innings not only salvaged LSG’s position but also highlighted his potential as a reliable finisher capable of turning games around. His performance frustrated the Delhi Capitals, who had earlier seemed poised to restrict LSG to a much lower score.
