The Kolkata Knight Riders continued their strong march towards IPL 2024 playoffs as they thrashed the Lucknow Super Giants by 98 runs at Ekana on Sunday. Shreya Iyer's men leapfrogged Rajasthan Royals to take top spot in the points table on back of a better net run rate.
KL Rahul's decision to bowl first seemed the right call but his bowlers didn't respond as the skipper would have wanted them to.
Sunil Narine once again took bowlers to the cleaners with a fiery 81. Other batters too chipped in with quick scores as KKR finished at 235/6.
Lucknow never looked on track to chase that total down as they lost Arshin Kulkarni for 9.
KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis did give the home crowd hope with a 50-run stand, but once they perished, LSG batters followed suit and fell like a pack of cards.
Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana picked 3 wickets each as LSG was eventually bowled out for just 137.
While are all but through to the playoffs, LSG are no in a muddle with 2nd loss in 3 outings.
