After cricket fans lambasted India bowler turned commentator Murali Kartik for his remarks against Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowler Yash Dayal, even the franchise got into action, taking a sly dig at the former-left arm spinner through a social media post.
The incident took place during the RCB vs PBKS match, when Yash Dayal was bowling during the powerplay in the first innings. He delivered a rather economical spell as he gave away just 4 runs in his first two overs.
Murali Kartik, who was doing commentary during that time said, "Someone’s trash is someone’s treasure," referring to Yash Dayal's performance. Dayal, who was at the receiving end of a Rinku Singh special last year, which saw him concede 5 sixes in the final over of the game between the Gujarat Titans and the Kolkata Knight Riders, was released by GT ahead of IPL 2024 auction, where RCB swooped in to get their man.
For those unaware, Yash Dayal's time with the Gujarat Titans was mentioned in Murali Kartik's remarks. The fast bowler had a below par season last year that included getting smashed for five consecutive sixes in an over against KKR which GT went on to lose.
Kartik's comment didn't go down well with RCB and they took to the social media platform 'X' to back their seamer. "He's treasure. Period," RCB posted on X.
Comedian Danish Sait, who associated with RCB’s social media as ‘Mr Nags’, took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam Kartik’s comments.
