RCB's poor auction strategy is out in the open after their high-profile players failed to deliver in IPL 2024 and they revamped their playing XI for the game against SRH on Monday.

Interestingly, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru benched Glenn Maxwell, whom they bought for ₹11 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. Mohammed Siraj, who was retained by RCB ahead of the last mega auction for ₹7 crore was also dropped.

They had already left out Cameron Green and pacer Alzarri Joseph following a string of poor shows, RCB had shelled out ₹17.50 crore and ₹11.50 crore respectively for the two players.

It might have been just 7 games for the bottom-ranked RCB but they have already benched players worth ₹47 crore, which is nearly half of their total purse.

Earlier, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl against SRH on Monday.

Hard-hitting batter Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj, who have had below-par showings this season, are not part of the RCB playing XI, while right-arm pacer Lockie Ferguson has been included in the side.

SRH skipper Pat Cummins will go into the contest with an unchanged side.
