They say that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice but the saying doesn't hold true for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. And on Monday, it wasn't just lightning that struck the Chinnaswamy but the Sunrisers brought a storm which blew away the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
SRH made RCB bowlers look clueless as they shattered their own record and smashed the highest team total in IPL history by finishing at 287/3. It's now also the 2nd highest total in all T20s.
Travis Head began the mayhem and smashed a hundred off just 39 balls setting up a perfect platform for his side.
Heinrich Klaasen then blasted a 31-ball-67 before Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad stitched an unbeaten 56-run stand off just 19 balls to help SRH rewrite history.
The record was previously held by the Sunrisers when they smashed 277/3 against Mumbai Indians in this season itself.
The Sunrisers hit 22 sixes which is now the most maximums in an IPL innings. interestingly, the record was previously held by RCB when they hit 21 sixes in a game against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Brief Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 287 for 3 in 20 overs (Abhishek Sharma 34, Travis Head 102, Heinrich Klaasen 67, Aiden Markram 32 not out, Abdul Samad 37 not out; Lockie Ferguson 2/52) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
