A new season but the same old Delhi Capitals. Rishabh Pant's return doesn't seem to be turning Delhi's fortunes around as the Rajasthan Royals beat them by 12 runs on Thursday.
Pant's decision to bowl first proved right to begin with when RR was reduced to 36/3 in 7.2 overs.
That's when Riyan Parag took over and powered his side to 185/5 on a tricky track with a fiery 85.
The 22-year-old took his time early on and scored his first 26 runs off as many deliveries. But once he got set, there was no stopping the 22-year-old as he smashed the next 58 runs off just 19 balls.
Delhi's run-chase began on a strong note before Nandre Burger removed Mitchell Marsh and Ricky Bhui in the same over.
David Warner looked good but was sent back after a well-made 49.
Pant continued to struggle and followed him back to the pavilion after a 26-ball-28.
Tristan Stubbs kept the chase alive with an unbeaten 23-ball-44 but Delhi could only reach 173/5.
A 2nd-consecutive win for the Royals meant that DC is still not off the mark on the points table after 2 matches. Interestingly, all 9 matches so far won by the home team this season.
