In an important update for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a strategic decision to reschedule two upcoming fixtures due to logistical considerations. The IPL encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), initially set for April 17, 2024, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, has been moved a day earlier to April 16, 2024. Conversely, the match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) has been postponed by a day, from its original schedule on April 16, 2024, to April 17, 2024, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
This scheduling shift comes in response to concerns voiced by local authorities in Kolkata regarding the feasibility of implementing adequate security measures for the KKR vs RR match. The originally planned date coincided with the Rama Navami festival, a significant event celebrated across India, which could potentially stretch the local security infrastructure given the additional backdrop of ongoing general elections.
To mitigate these concerns and ensure the smooth conduct of both matches, the BCCI has opted to interchange the dates for the GT vs DC and KKR vs RR fixtures.
