The highly awaited Indian Premier League final featuring Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad is scheduled to take place today evening at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
KKR, which came in first in the league phase with nine victories out of 14 games, are aiming for a third IPL championship while SRH are aiming for their second.
Yesterday, SRH took a day off while KKR planned to practice in the evening with the help of lights. Nonetheless, as the players started their pre-game football warm-up, it started raining heavily, so they had to move indoors. Groundstaff acted promptly to protect the pitch, but were slower in ensuring safety on the square.
Will it rain during the IPL final?
It is anticipated that there will be no disruptions during the IPL final, as the weather will be around 34 degrees Celsius at 7 PM IST when the toss happens. According to Accuweather, the likelihood of rain is 0%, while the humidity is at 61%.
Similarly to last year, there is also a backup plan in place with a reserve day in case of bad weather, and the weather forecast for that day appears to be positive. Prior to the match, the IPL organizers will provide an additional 120 minutes for it to conclude on Sunday. If that is not achievable, it will be rescheduled for the reserve day.
