Sunrisers Hyderabad's opening batsman, Abhishek Sharma, who scored a scintillating knock against Mumbai Indians in match 8 of IPL 2024 has revealed that the batsman was unaware of his fastest fifty record and got to know about it only after his dismissal.

Speaking at the press conference after the win by 31 runs, Abhishek said, "To be honest, I didn't realise it was the fastest fifty for SRH. I just wanted to go out and express myself. After getting out, I realised it was the quickest. And of course, I enjoyed it,"

Abhishek also opened up on his opening partner Travis Head, who also scored a half-century in 18 deliveries during the game and held on to the fastest-fifty record for just 15 minutes before Abhishek overtook it with 16 balls fifty and said that Travis Head is one of his favourite batters.

Abhishek said that the message from Pat Cummins and Daniel Vettori was to go out and express themselves. He went on to say that he enjoyed his time batting with Head.

"In the meeting we had before the match, the message was pretty simple. Just go out and express yourself. Because that's a very positive message from the captain and coach."

"For this match also, it was pretty much the same. Just go out and express yourself. When I was batting with Travis Head. He is one of my favourite batters. I really enjoyed batting with him," said Abhishek.
