BCCI announces squads: Rahul to lead in T20s, Umran gets a call up; Pujara makes a comeback for ENG Test

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the T20 squad for the South Africa home series and the Test squad for rescheduled fifth Test against England on Sunday.

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, who was rested for the home series, KL Rahul will lead the Team India in the T20 Internationals against South Africa. Umran Malik, who lit up the IPL 2022 with his pace, got a maiden call-up in India's limited-overs series.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh who emerged as a death bowling specialist for Punjab Kings in IPL 2022 also got a place in India's 18-member squad.


The other notable additions to India's T20 squad vs South Africa are Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya.

The five-match T20I series vs South Africa will kick-start on June 9.

India full T20 squad vs South Africa: KL Rahul (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (vice-captain)(wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik. 

Moreover, India would send their best squad for the rescheduled fifth Test against England.

After a well-deserved rest, Rohit Sharma would return to lead Team India in England. Cheteshwar Pujara, who found his form during the English county season, made a return to the India Test squad after getting dropped from the Sri Lanka home series.

Prasidh Krishan got the maiden call-up in India's 17-member squad for the England Test series.

Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will all fly to England on June 15 for the one-off Test against England at Edgbaston from July 1-5.
