As the Delhi Capitals gear up for their much-anticipated IPL 2024 clash against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday afternoon, all eyes are on star spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who is slated for a crucial fitness evaluation. The team's Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, disclosed in a media briefing that Yadav's participation hinges on a fitness test scheduled for Saturday, due to concerns over groin stiffness that sidelined him for the last two matches.

"He (Kuldeep) will undergo a fitness test today. He has a little bit of groin stiffness (and) that's why he missed the last two games. By the end of the day, we'll get to know whether he's available tomorrow or not,” Ganguly stated, emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding Yadav's availability for the upcoming game.

In a related development, Delhi Capitals' camp faces another challenge as all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is set to miss the Sunday game against Mumbai Indians. Ganguly confirmed the unfortunate news, attributing Marsh's absence to an injury sustained during the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The loss of Marsh, a pivotal figure in the team's lineup, presents a significant setback for the Capitals as they navigate through the tournament.

With Marsh sidelined, the Delhi Capitals are considering bolstering their batting lineup by potentially introducing Australian batter James Fraser-McGurk to IPL action. Fraser-McGurk's potential debut could inject fresh energy into the team and offer a new dynamic as they seek to maintain their momentum in IPL 2024.

The situation around Kuldeep Yadav's fitness and Marsh's injury has placed the Delhi Capitals in a position where strategic adjustments and player fitness will play critical roles in their campaign. With 3 losses in 4 games already, the Capitals will be hoping their star spinner is available to boost their morale in the bottom-of-the-table clash with the Mumbai Indians.
