Rishabh Pant might have been in great form in IPL 2024 but the Delhi Capitals skipper not only failed with the bat against the Kolkata Knight Riders but also made a few questionable decisions.
Even before the first ball, Pant's decision to bat first at Eden Gardens left many fans and experts surprised, given how dew has aided teams chasing at this ground.
In the previous match in Kolkata, the Punjab Kings chased down 262 in just 18.4 overs, which was the highest successful run-chase in IPL history.
DC tried to go ultra-aggressive in their approach but what followed were careless shots and a batting collapse.
When Delhi were 37/3, the onus was on skipper Pant to bail them out. However, he looked clueless against Varun Chakravarthy, who has been his nemesis in the IPL.
Trying to slog the mystery spinner, Pant got a lifeline when he was dropped on 18. But the DC skipper once again tried to play a rash shot of Chakravarthy and was dismissed for 27.
Interestingly, the KKR spinner has bowled 30 balls to Pant and has conceded just 31 runs and has dismissed the Southpaw thrice. Pant also averages just over 10 in this process.
In the end, top-class bowling by Chakravarthy saw him end with figures of 3/16 in 4 overs, getting the wickets of Pant, Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel.
