Former New Zealand cricketer and renowned commentator Simon Doull summarised why Suresh Raina went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auctions.

While speaking to the website, Cricbuzz, Doull said that Raina lost his loyalty to CSK after he returned from UAE during IPL 2020.

"He lost the loyalty of the team and he lost the loyalty of MS Dhoni. Once you do that, you're very unlikely to be welcomed back", Doull added.

This will be the first time in IPL history that Raina would not play in the cash-rich league. However, Raina still has a chance to play in IPL 2022 if any franchise picks him as an injury replacement during the tournament.

Raina was a part of CSK since the inception of the Indian Premier League, excluding 2016 and 2017 when the Chennai-based franchise was banned.

Raina scored 5528 runs in 205 IPL matches at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.76, including one century and 39 fifties.
