In the thick of the IPL 2024, Rohit Sharma is said to have recently met in Mumbai with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Rahul Dravid of Team India to talk about the composition of the squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup.
A significant decision about Hardik Pandya was made during the meeting, which took place last week at the BCCI headquarters, according to a report in The Indian Express.
The three concluded that Pandya's chances of being included in the squad will depend on how frequently he bowls during the IPL 2024.
The fast bowling all-rounders that India will bring for the T20 championship, which the USA and Caribbean islands will co-host in June of this year, were a major topic of discussion at the two-hour meeting.
Though they are closely monitoring Shivam Dube, who is having an excellent season at bat but has only been utilised as an Impact Player by his team, Chennai Super Kings, the selectors don't have enough quality options to choose from.
However, Pandya, who is also leading the Mumbai Indians in the current season, has been having trouble with his bowling. He has taken three wickets in six games and bowled 11 overs thus far, but his economy rate which is at 12 per over is the main cause for concern.
