After 74 matches, it all came down to the final ball to decide who will win IPL 2023 and it was Ravindra Jadeja who held his nerve to power Chennai Super Kings to their 5th title, joint-most in IPL history.
Put into bat, Gujarat Titans finished at 214/4, courtesy of a fiery 96-run knock by Sai Sudarshan.
However, a short shower delayed Chennai's run-chase and the new equation was 171 needed off 15 overs.
CSK were off to a fiery 74-run opening partnership but Mohit Sharma brought GT back into the contest with 3 wickets.
The equation boiled down to 10 required off the final 2 balls and Jadeja sealed an emphatic win with a six and a boundary.
Interestingly, CSK has now won 3 of the last 4 finals they have played in the IPL. Moreover, the winner of Qualifier 1 has won the IPL for the 6th consecutive season.
