Mayank Yadav continued to make waves in the cricketing world with his express pace as the young Lucknow Super Giants' sensation breathed fire yet again on Tuesday.
After catching everyone's eyeballs in his debut match against the Punjab Kings, Mayank rattled RCB's batting order with figures of 3 for 14 in 4 overs.
He sent back Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar but the highlight of his spell was a thunderbolt delivery that clocked 156.7 kmph. It's now the fastest delivery of IPL 2024.
It's also the 4th quicket ball in the history of the cash-rich leage with Shaun Tait topping the list when he clocked 157.7 in 2011. Mayank's thunderbolt ranks 2nd among Indian pacers on the list next to Umran Malik, who bowled a 157 kmph delivery in 2022.
It wasn't just a flash in the pan as the 21-year-old fast bowler regularly clocks over 150 kmph. He also clocked 155.8 kmph in the game vs PBKS but broke his own record in the very next game.
He doesn't just have raw pace but a combination of line and length is what makes him a deadly pacer.
With 6 wickets in 2 games, Mayank has already broken into top wicket-takers of IPL 2024. Interestingly, he has played a game less than other bowlers in the top 4 list.
