In a dramatic moment during the IPL 2024 match on Friday night, Mohsin Khan of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowled a spellbinding first ball that completely deceived Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Rachin Ravindra. The delivery, a beautifully executed inswinger, left the young Kiwi all-rounder with no answers, leading to his dismissal for a golden duck.
The pitch was set for an intense showdown, and Mohsin’s opening delivery did not disappoint. It was a fullish ball aimed to lure the batsman into driving it down the ground. However, the ball swung in, slipping past Ravindra's inside edge to strike the stumps. This early dismissal then brought captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to the crease as Ravindra, who had begun his debut IPL season with impressive performances, was forced to return to the pavilion without contributing to his team's score.
Rachin Ravindra's journey in this year’s IPL started on a high note, with robust performances that had quickly made him a player to watch. However, the recent string of matches has seen a dip in his form. Over his last five innings, Ravindra has managed to accumulate just 50 runs, averaging a mere 10 runs per outing with a strike rate falling below 110.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also didn't last too long, with Yash Thakur managing to snaffle his wicket in his first over with the help of an outside edge which was pouched safely by LSG captain KL Rahul. Ajinkya Rahane, who opened the innings alongside Ravindra, finished with 36 before Krunal Pandya sent him back to the pavilion, with the visitors reaching 81/3 at the halfway mark of their innings.
