When MS Dhoni hit that 110 meter six on the first delivery of the final over in CSK's run chase against RCB, it seemed as MSD would pull off the match with his magic once again.
However, according to Dinesh Karthik, that monstrous six which went out of the stadium tilted the match in Bengaluru's favour on Saturday night.
“The best thing to happen today was Dhoni hitting that six outside the ground, and we got a new ball, which was much better to bowl with,” Karthik said during the RCB's dressing room talk after a thrilling win over Chennai. This made Virat Kohli give a cheeky smile.
The regular match ball got a little wet due to rain, making it difficult for the bowlers to grip it, taking slower balls almost impossible to bowl.
However, the new ball which had to be taken after Dhoni sent the wet ball out of M Chinnaswamy, was a drier ball and was easier to grip. That helped Yash Dayal and he got the wicket of Dhoni and then game away just 1 run off the final 4 balls.
Bengaluru were rocking at the bottom of the points table after just 1 win from first 8 games. However, RCB then won 6 in a row to end at the 4th spot. Karthik also lauded his teammates for making an incredible turnaround.
“Jokes apart, we should be really proud of the journey we are having. People will always remember certain journeys. The way we have come back after 8 games, winning 6 games, people will remember this team for a very very long time,” Karthik added.
