ATK Mohun Bagan clinched their first-ever Indian Super League title by beating Bengaluru FC 4-3 on penalties in the ISL on Saturday.
The action-packed final encounter started when Mohun Bagan's top scorer Dimitri Petratos converted a 14th minute penalty spot kick to give Mohun Bagan the lead.
However, it was Bengaluru FC's talisman Sunil Chhetri who levelled the score after converting another penalty kick right on the cusp of halftime.
The second half continued with the same intensity and saw former ATK Mohun Bagan forward Roy Krishna put one past the keeper to make it 2-1 in the 78th minute only for Petratos to make it 2-2 on the night after Bengaluru conceded another penalty late in the game.
After a goalless period of extra time, it was ATK Mohun Bagan who won the lottery by winning 4-3 on penalties to lift their maiden ISL title on the night.
