India won 6 medals in athletics today and probably the one that took the most effort in Hangzhou was the men’s decathlon silver won by Tejaswin Shankar.
Shankar smashed the national record to finish second in the 10-discipline event. He garnered a total of 7666 points and broke the previous record held by Bharatinder Singh.

Tejaswin, who has only started participating in Decathlon recently, had a fantastic outing in China, where he finished only 150 points behind the Gold medallist, Sun Qihao.
Tejaswin finished top in long jump, his best event high jump, and the 400-metres. And even in some of his weaker disciplines, he registered personal bests to finish second overall.
