Rafael Nadal who scripted history on Sunday at Melbourne Park said that he wasn't even sure one and a half months back if this would be his last Aus Open.

In the post-match presentation, the elated Spaniard who won his record-extending 21st Grand Slam said that one month and a half ago he didn't know if he will be able to be back on the tour playing tennis again and went on to say that nobody knows how much I fought to be here.

Nadal had a tough 2021, he suffered a career-threatening foot injury, was down with Covid-19 in December, was not even an absolute favorite this year. His luck hardly worked in Australia in the past years, but despite everything, the 6th seeded player rose to the occasion and picked up his 2nd Australian Open title at the Rod Laver Arena after defeating Russia's Daniil Medvedev who had a fabulous run at this year's Australian Open.

Calling this win the most unexpected one, Nadal said that he is ready to enjoy more moments like these.
