India's Lakshya Sen advanced to the BWF Indonesia Open men's singles Round of 16 on Wednesday after defeating eighth-seed Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia 21-17, 21-13.
Indonesia's Jonatan Christie advanced with victory over Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama 21-17, 21-10 while Akira Koga and Taichi Saito of Japan knocked out Tokyo Olympic men's doubles gold medallists Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Lin of Taiwan 21-18, 17-21, 21-12.
South Korea's Kim Ga Eun had the top comeback of the early action, bouncing back from 8-17 down in the deciding third game to stun Canada's Michelle Li 22-24, 21-17, 23-21.
India's Priyanshu Rajawat also advanced to the Round of 16 after getting a walkover against Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand.
However, it was curtains for young Indian female shuttler Aakarshi Kashyap as she crashed out in the opening round of women's singles.
Kashyap was no match for second seed An Se Young of South Korea, losing 10-21 4-21.
