For the first time ever, four Indian grandmasters are through to the quarterfinals of the ongoing FIDE Chess World Cup in Azerbaijan on August 14 with Vidit Gujrathi's stunning win over Russia's GM Ian Nepomniachtchi.
Gujrathi defeated the Russian 2-0 in the 10-minute rapid segment of the tie-break to qualify for the quarterfinals for a second time.
The 28-year-old joins a trio of fellow Indians -- D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa and Arjun Erigaisi -- in the last eight.
