Indian racer Kush Maini took his maiden pole position for the Formula 2 season's opening race in Bahrain on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Maini's teammate Gabriel Bortoleto came a close second, 0.219 seconds behind.
Last year, Maini had finished 4th in Bahrain Grand Prix, collecting 14 points overall from his debut race weekend.
The 23-year-old is an Alpine Academy driver being mentored by two-time F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen and his sights set on the big Formula 1 stage.
