17-year-old Grandmaster D Gukesh ended Viswanathan Anand's 36-year-long dominance in chess live world rankings as climbed to the 9th spot. As a result, Anand was pushed to 10th.
Interestingly, it's the first time that an Indian Grandmaster is ranked higher than Viswanathan Anand as Gukesh is now the top-ranked Indian.
He achieved this feat following his second-round match victory at the World Cup.
CM of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin congratulated Gukesh and tweeted, 'Your achievement is an inspiration to young talents everywhere and a proud moment for Tamil Nadu!'
