World number 13 Taylor Fritz stunned Rafael Nadal in the final of Indian Wells Masters to register his first Masters 1000 title on Sunday. Fritz ended Nadal's 20-match winning streak in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 to win the final in California. As a result, Nadal who recently won the Australian Open had his hopes dashed of equalling Novak Djokovic's record 37 Masters titles.
Nadal had a slow start and failed to capitalise on Fritz's ankle injury and ended up losing the contest as the young American defeated the World number 4 in a stunning fashion. Courtesy of the record win, Fritz is now the first American to win the Men's Singles title at the Indian Wells since Andre Agassi's triumph in 2001.
