Red Bull's Max Verstappen won a very special Mexico Grand Prix on Sunday as victory helped him break Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel's record for the most race wins in a Formula One season with his 14th victory of 2022.
World champion Verstappen finished a comfortable 15.186 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes while Verstappen's Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez finished third on home soil. It was the second win inside a week for Dutchman Verstappen, who also triumphed at the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
Two-time world champion Verstappen held pole position and trailed after pitting earlier than the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell due to starting on soft tyres.
The Dutchman regained the lead when Russell pitted on lap 35 of 71, and stayed clear of Hamilton for his eighth win in nine races.
