According to World Athletics, Usain Bolt is no more the most written-about athlete in the world.
The person to overtake him is none other than India's Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra.
Chopra leads the way with 812 articles ahead of a troika of Jamaican women sprinters, Elaine Thompson-Herah, with 751 articles, world 100m champion Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce (698) and world 200m champion Shericka Jackson (679). Usain Bolt who still holds the men's 100m & 200m record still features in 574 articles despite taking retirement back in 2017.
Chopra, India's star javelin thrower, has had a terrific year which started off by becoming only the second Indian to win a global medal at the World Athletics Championships after Anju Bobby George’s bronze in the women’s long jump in 2003.
The impressive feat was topped off by the 24-year-old in September when he became the first Indian to win the Diamond League final.
Chopra won India's first Olympic gold medal in athletics at the Tokyo Olympics last year.
