Neeraj Chopra makes history, becomes 1st Indian to win gold at the Diamond League

Neeraj Chopra returned from injury with a bang as he won gold at Lausanne Diamond League 2022 on Friday. With that, the Olympic champion also became the first Indian athlete to achieve the feat.

Neeraj's massive throw of 89.08m earned him qualification for the all-important Diamond League final in Zurich next month, as well as the 2023 World Championships in Budapest Hungary, which has a qualification mark of 85.20m.

After winning the silver medal at the world championships, 24-year-old Neeraj had to pull out of the Commonwealth Games due to injury. After the event, a delighted Neeraj said that he was especially pleased as he was coming back from an injury and the win was a good indicator that he had recovered well.
