Ahead of the 2024 Olympics, host city Paris has announced that metro ticket prices will be doubled during the event's duration.
It is an effort to offset the vast expenses required to provide transportation to the millions of visitors expected at the Games.
From July 20 to September 8, single metro ticket prices will cost 4 euros, up from the usual 2 euros.
Similarly, 10-ticket blocks will be priced at 32 euros, double of the regular 16.9 euros.
However, the head of Paris region's transport authority Valeries Pecresse has assured that residents with daily passes will not be impacted by these price changes.
For tourists, flat-rate passes will cost 70 euros per week or 16 euros per day and will cover transportation to and from Charless de Gaulle and Orly airports as well the entire Paris region.
