The US Open is set to witness a first-time Grand Slam champion on Sunday when teenage sensation, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz takes on Norway's Casper Ruud in the men's singles final at the Flushing Meadows.
The 19-year-old Spaniard defeated America's Frances Tiafoe in a gruelling five-setter 6-7, 6-3, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 in the second semifinal to set up a summit clash with Ruud.

The Norwegian Ruud had earlier beaten Karen Khachanov 7-6, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in the first semifinal. This will be Ruud's second Grand Slam title match in 2022. The 23-year-old tennis star was runner-up at this year's French Open, with Rafael Nadal winning the title.
The winner of the US Open final will also become the new World No. 1 in the Men's ATP rankings.
