Coco Gauff, a 19-year-old from Florida has become the first American teenager to make it to the US Open title match in New York since Serena Williams in 2001 after winning her semifinal game against Karolina Muchova.
Gauff registered a straight set win against the Czech player 6-4, 7-5 in a match that was delayed by 50 minutes because of the protest by the environmental activists.
The runner-up at the 2022 French Open completed her 11th win in a row and the 17th in her past 18 matches, a run that began after a first-round exit at Wimbledon in July.
The No. 6-seeded Gauff will meet Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus who came back from a set down to defeat Madison Keys of the U.S. 0-6, 7-6, 7-5 in a thrilling semifinal game.
