19-year-old Coco Gauff became the first American teenager to lift the US Open trophy at home since Serena Williams in 1999 after she came from a set down to beat Aryna Sabalenka in New York.
At the buzzing Flushing Meadows, Gauff who has now won 12 victories in a row beat the Belarusian Tennis player 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in 2 hours and 6 minutes to get her hands around her maiden Grand Slam.
Despite the disappointment, Sabalenka will replace Iga Swiatek to be the new World No. 1 when the rankings are announced on Monday.
